Absence During Term-Time

Following changes in legislation regarding absence from school for all children of school age, all requests for term-time absence must be applied for and approved by the Head, Mr Shore, in advance, via the Application for Leave of Absence During Term Time Form by clicking here. The school requires at least 5 working days’ notice for a request, except in emergencies. Parents should be aware that the school is required to report absences of 5 days or more to the Local Authority. Waverley and parents may also undergo a pupil absence inspection by the Local Authority at any time. Please note that the legislation applies to both state and independent schools.

Parents should be aware that special days out, holidays and regular medical and dental appointments are not considered as reasonable reasons for term-time absence and must be taken during school holidays or outside of core school hours (08:30-15:30hrs). Please also be aware that as your child heads towards Senior School, we are often required to declare a child’s levels of absence in their application.
