Making Key Holders in Forest Skills

In Forest Skills, the children have been continuing to hone their skills and knowledge of using different tools. This week they have been practising using a folding hand saw by taking it in turns in pairs to cut a piece of wood. This is the first stage to the children learning how to correctly use a hand saw by themselves.

Then in a group, Mr Mayes demonstrated to the children how to use a Japanese Hand Saw. According to Rosie, it looked 'like a giant cheese knife'! A brilliant and very observant description Rosie! The Japanese Hand Saw will enable the children to make a vertical cut at the rear of their key holders that they are making.
