VE Day - 80th Anniversary Lunch
Today, was the 80th anniversary of VE Day. To mark this momentous occasion, the children were treated to a very special themed lunch. The nostalgic feast featured classic wartime dishes such as meatloaf with gravy, Lord Woolton pie and a wonderful Victoria sponge for pudding. A big thank you to Jo and the Connect team for treating us to such a delicious meal! It was not only incredibly tasty, but also thoughtfully themed around the kinds of food enjoyed during the VE Day era. Everyone really appreciated the effort and attention to detail the kitchen team went to and it made the occasion extra special!
The school corridor and hall were beautifully decorated with flags and wartime posters and each table featured examples of ration books. Music from the 1940’s was also played throughout lunch, helping to create an immersive and educational experience for all. The children thoroughly enjoyed the celebration, with many curious and excited to learn more about life during wartime Britain. It was a wonderful way to honour history and bring the past to life for the next generation.
