WW1 Day - Year 5 & 6
On Thursday the 8th October, Year 5 and 6 had a visit from two World War 1 soldiers from ‘Portals to the Past’. They spent the day learning all about how WW1 started, what weapons they used and they even got to handle a real rifle from WW1! After that, it was time for rifle drill, where the children learnt how to march and how to attack the opposition. They even went to Scout school and learnt about how to creep through the barbed wire in ‘No Man’s Land’. Finally, they ended the workshop by reflecting on the men and women who gave up so much so that we could live in freedom.
We would like to express a huge thank you to the WFA (Waverley Friends Association) to funding this wonderful experience.
